New JK today, Uconnect issue

Good evening! First post, first Jeep. I traded my Ford F-150 Platinum for a JK today. I have never even riden in a Jeep before today, and I love it. I'm lifting it next week, more than likely a 2.5" Pro Comp or Rubicon Express. Any suggestions or reviews?

My issue is that my iPhone 5s will not see the radio, just sits there and tries to connect, to no avail. Any suggestions? I have researched over an hour with no clear solution. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. One more thing, the dealer used that awful cherry scent when they cleaned it up for me. Have any of you purchased a used Jeep that the stuff was used? Did it irritate your eyes and give you a headache?

It has 325/65x18 Nittos and XD's. So far, so good. We will see what the wife thinks tomorrow morning on the way to church! I look foward to using this forum!

That's a good looking Jeep! Maybe I got lucky, but pairing my Galaxy phone per the user's guide was very simple. You'll get quite a few negative reviews regarding RE and Pro Comp lifts. Your lift decision needs to be based on what your goals are ie. tire clearance, offroad capability, etc. I'd recommend looking at TeraFlex, Synergy and AEV. Be prepared to spend some money though, to do it the right way.

I paired my 5s no problem. I would suggest turning bluetooth off then back on again. The other option is to just restart the phone.

Are you sure the Jeep actually has bluetooth?

Welcome to Wrangler Forum. Great looking JKU. I am big Rubicon Express fan. Have it on 2 rigs. Others are good, too. I'd bag the Pro Comp though. If your Head unit is Bluetooth enabled, you should be able to pair the phone. Are you getting prompts from the unit? Do you see a mic on the windshield trim?

Well, when pushing the phone icon, she says-Uconnect ready, and gives me a list of options. I have not seen a mic. Probably the issue. Was there supposed to be one? I thought all Unlimited Sports were supposed to come with Uconnect?

I had the same problem. I had to completely delete my device from my the Jeep and delete jeep from iPhone. Then started fresh and it worked.

No trying to be a smart ass, but are you following the directions in the owners manual to pair your phone? If not, the directions can be found on p. 118.

It depends on the radio. If you have the 730N, I believe it's internal in the head unit itself. The other radios have it located above and to the left of the driver side sun visor.

I'll look and see what radio I have; is there an easy way to distinguish model numbers?

3 letters on the lower right corner. My '10 730N is an RER. The mic is located on the plastic trim next to the sunvisor mount. The bluetooth module itself is in the unit. 430N is an RBZ, needs an external bluetooth module, mic is in same location. I have seen '11s that come stock with connectivity and the mic is actually embedded in the plastic, same location.

In looking in my manual, I have a 130 with Sirius. I do get a voice (when pressing the phone icon) that says Uconnect ready. no mike to be found, and the radio can't hear my voice commands. When I press the voice button, I get a beep, that's it.
I have nothing left to try.

I hate to say it but you may need to run it by the dealer. Since you hear it say Uconnect ready, you should be able to talk to it. Then again, I'm tired, and I've replaced my headunit, so I'm not the best at advice right now.

The mic is up by the sunvisor on the pillar, all you will see is a slotted grill in the plastic, it behind that so it's not obvious.

I don't know a lot about Bluetooth though, I never tried pairing mine up when it was stock, and replaced the headunit later. But the link at the very bottom should help.

There are two guides - the user's guide, and the owner's manual. The users guide should have come with it in a fabric cover, the owner's manual is a download from here - Jeep Owners | Download an Owners Manual 2004 - 2011 | Jeep

The Jeep site also has a helpful links for Uconnect here - Uconnect® | Find the right Uconnect system for your Jeep® Vehicle

Uconnect® | Find the right Uconnect system for your Jeep® Vehicle

Jeep - Uconnect

It did take a minute to load phone options, be patient, I thought it was broken but they finally loaded. This is in regards to the drop down menu in the last link provided.

If it is stock then there are 3 letters. Very small, to the lower right of the aux jack. All stocks units have the mic location in the same place, as mentioned before. If you get the uconnect message, say 'help' after it and see what you hear.
