Noise on acceleration

K so today it is around 5°C and snowing, Very wet roads. And now when accelerating in gear 1 and 2 it makes a winding sound. the noise doesn't happen if i just rev the engine seems to only be when im in gear and accelerating.

2013 JK 6 speed Manual.

Ive super freaked out it better not be an expensive fix. Im around 7000Km's on the engine. Still under warranty. HELP!

Are you positive it's not the piping behind the dash?
Mine rattles similar until warmed up to OT.

I will check that, but I noticed it not long after going through a puddle and water splashed up everywhere.

Is that winding sound happening only when cold and disappear when it is at its operating temperature ? I think you are just hearing the transfer case whinning because of cold oil.

I've got similar noise when it's cold not really a whirring more of a hmm tapping so to say really similar to rods flapping but not nearly as loud and a lot slower, it only happens in first and second and it's only shortly after I start driving and it's quick never longer than a second after I shift

It happens if the jeep is warm or cold. Today I took it on the highway and when i got off it was still making the noise in gear 1 and 2.

If I put the 2H 4H N 4L box thing in neutral and if i rev in gear 1 and 2 there is no noise.

Im going to call my jeep dealer tomorrow morning and book an appointment.

Im now wondering if this has something to do with what happened to me the other day.
I was driving on the highway and there was very bad vibration. It turns out there was ice stuck to my rims making them out of balance. Wonder if something vibrated loose.

I checked the engine oil and its also over the recommended limit... I just bought the jeep from a dealer 2 months ago.

Just got a call from the shop and they said it was the clutch release baring. They said it needs to be replaced and they will have the part in on Friday.

Check your inner stick shift rubber boot on your 6spd MT...it could have a tear and allowing more engine noise into the cabin.

Jeep goes in tomorrow AGAIN there ripping apart the whole transmission to see what the sound is. Chrysler engineering recommended this.

I hope this finally fixes the problem.... Its been over a month and a half.....Most of it being the dealer trying to get parts or talking with Chrysler engineering.

You do know if you wind any manual trans out in a low gear it will whine right? Its because of the load. Ever heard a car in reverse? Mine does it too in first and second. It being cold only makes it a little worse. Secondly, people cross streams in wranglers, i doubt your splash was anything significant. Please post a vid of the noise if you can. If your description matches what im thinking its nothing. P.S. Sometimes the "exploratory surgery" the dealers do makes everything worse. Theyre probably ripping open a perfectly good tranny.

okay i will make a video when i get it back. Assuming they dont fix it. But i dont think its normal because now its making the sound in gears 3 and 4, and gears 1 and 2 are much louder now. it used to just be a quite noise but now its loud. I have drove around 1500 Kms since the noise started.

Sorry for not updating, The noise is fixed now. After talking with another dealer they said the noise is not normal and they will fix it. After 3 months of this problem They replaced my transmission and now its just road and engine noises.

Still dont know what caused the noise and none of the Chrysler engineers or mechanics at the dealer could figure it out. I must have just been some odd defect.

I find it annoying how after one dealer (Fairview Chrysler where I bought the jeep used off an employee who worked there) replaced parts 3 times and after each time said the noise is fixed(and it never was), then they try to say its a normal noise. they let me test drive a new 2014 calming it makes the same noise (sounded like a normal JK). I think they saw a 18 year old kid and just thought I wouldn't fight and just go with what they say. Anyways after I took it to unique Chrysler and put a ticket into the BBB I got the transmission replaced.
