That's never discussed here but let me geuss at what may be said if it were discussed ad nauseum once, twice or 3 million times.
1)Don't waste your money
2)changing from dino to synthetic and back will harm your engine
3) changing from dino to syn and back will do no harm
4) change your oil every 3 thousand, 5 thousand, 8 thousand or when ever the algorithms tell you to.
what ever you do NOT USE MOBIL 1, your warranty will be voided
5) Use which ever brand you like including mobil 1

okay I think that should cover it, or at least get the discussion rolling.
Oh and welcome to the forum.:welcome:

BTW I use the recommended viscosity (5w-20) in full sythetic Pennzoil Platinum, why you ask, because it's approved by the manufacturer and Meets MS-6395.
Also if it is not obvious I am joking in most of this thread and really, Welcome to the forum.

Nice ride! No problem with synthetic, as others mentioned. Pennzoil Platinum, or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum if you can find it in 5W20 will do just fine.

FYI, you can get a "$5 off 5 quarts Penzoil Platium" coupon at Penzoils website. Good until April 3. I used one at WalMart this morning. You can get two coupons, just have to use them on two separate trips to the WalMart. I'll stop in next week and use the other one for a 5-quart jug and set aside for when I change the oil in the truck.

Really Muroc, Really?
Why do you always post in such a condescending way.
People come on discussion boards to ask questions, and yes, have discussions. What is so out of line in this guy asking a simple question on oil and viscosity. I joked about it in my first post to say that it is always discussed but what the heck why not discuss again, no sweat. Guess what, If I don't to discuus oil and viscosity I won't post in those threads.
But I also wouldn't go into those threads just to call a new comer "lazy" because he didn't meet your requirements in his research, come on get over yourself already and start playing nice with others, it makes this board that much more enjoyable.
Have a good day Muroc.

Which oil brand and when to change is one of the most hotly debated topics on the internet. And one of the most over rated.

Truthfully, it don't really matter all that much. Virtually all oil related engine failures are the result of running out of oil. Keep oil in it, never change it and I'd bet most modern engines will go at least 100,000 miles.

Change the oil and filter every 6 months, use the cheapest stuff you can buy and most vehicles will end up in the scrap yard for other reasons long before the engine goes bad.

Buy a quality synthetic or dino oil and change every 5000 miles and you might well drive one a half million miles.

Before I retired I worked crazy hours. For months at a time it was 7 days a week and 70-90 hours a week, then I'd be off for weeks at a time. It wasn't about money, but time. When I had some free time I had better things to do than change oil. I started using Mobile 1 and doubling the oil change interval to 10,000 miles.

I'm perfectly comfortable with that, many are not. Never had a problem. I wouldn't do that with dino oil, but feel it is probably just as good. It just needs to be changed more often. You'd likely do just as well by walking into a parts store and just randomly picking one.
