Oil leak

There appears to be oil leaking out of my crankshaft and onto my axel. I am assuming it is a gasket or seal of some sort. Has anyone had this problem or have a suggestion on how to fix it?

What year?

If you have a 2007-2011, the oil filter is just above and changing it usually results in it dripping onto the axle. Do you change your own oil?

Degrease axle and motor and wait for return.

Yeah it's an 07 and the oil is on top of my pumpkin it looks like it's being thrown off off the crankshaft do you still think it could be the filter leaking?

You didn't say whether you changed your own oil.

If you do, you'll see that a small amount harmlessly spills onto the axle. That's normal.

If you let someone else change your oil, a bit will spill and look like a leak (to you).

If the filter isn't tightened or it's double gasketed it'll drip. So clean it off with a degreaser and see that the filter is tightened. Look for new leaks.

If you clean it, you'll see where it is leaking from. Most anything else is a guess.

...if its double gasketed...drip might be a conservative word...

I do not change the oil on it so that could be a possibility I will try cleaning and tightening it to see if that helps. Thank you very much for the advice

Some of these engines had Porosity in the Casting of the front Timing Chain Cover behind the Water Pump.....Clean it up real good and take a close look...
I think this was a Factory fix if thats the problem.....If not you will have to remove that cover and de-grease it and coat it with a Epoxy sealer....Reinstall.. Or buy a new one.

Good Luck ! "BH"
