Can someone tell me the best performance chip to put on a 2014 Wrangler Sport?

Honestly, it depends. There are federal laws that prohibit the warranty being void for just for a "mod". Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.

BUT, depending on what needs warranty work and what mods you have will depend on whether the work is covered.

IE, if you get a tuner and your radio messes up, it should be covered.

If you put bigger tires on than what it came with and your trans gets fried, they'll try to deny the warranty.

If you get a tuner and you blow the engine, they can and probably will deny the warranty, but the mod would have to be proven to be the cause, which can turn into a legal battle.

In other words, if the work needed has nothing to do with any mod you have, you should be fine. If the work that needs done is related to a mod, they will try to deny it. If the work that needs done is caused be the mod, it will be denied.

To be safe(er) if you get a tuner, as stated, reflash back to stock any time it goes to the dealer, even for an oil change.

Here is a better read of the whole thing:

No such thing as a performance chip, any "chips" you see on ebay are a scam. You need a tuner if you want a few more HP, Bully Dog, Diablo, Superchips etc. You upload these tunes to the computer and then they will give you a few more HP usually 5-15 depending on the tune, most of these programmers have a 2-3 different (canned) tunes installed and you can use whatever one that best fits your application however you will need to run premium fuel for the more aggressive ones.

When/if you take it to the dealer you want to plug the tuner back in and restore the original factory tune, if you don't do this and the dealer flashes your ECM with updated factory software then your programmer will not work as it is locked to that vehicle and you will need to call the manufacturer of the tuner to get it unlocked which can cost $100.00 or so.

As long as you return it to factory there should be no reason for it to affect your warranty.

The best tuner for the JK is the Superchips Trail Dash. Way more programming capability and a much larger display. I have a Bully Dog on my car and a Super chips on my JK. It has more preloaded tunes and is actually much easy to work than the Bully Dog.

Either programmer will work but being an owner of both the SC is a better choice.

I've got the Trail Dash also and find it's pretty good. Personally I've tried all the tunes and I prefer the "stock" setting, but I'm sure many folks like the octane tunes. Throttle response is the difference I've noted. In the "Crawl" tune, the accelerator sensitivity is reduced. With the "87 Octane" tune, pedal response is much better than stock for those seeking that "edge", but for me I like the Trail Dash for the independent locker and sway bar control the most. Additionally, I've installed a hand throttle to the accelerator pedal and it works best with the stock tune as well.

Your mileage may vary!

I have a trail dash on my 2012 rubicon and the TD screen says 20ish mpg while the factory speedometer menu says 14/15ish. The TD screen always shows a higher mpg but I'm getting around 14.5 using the 87 octane tune, that's mostly city and off road- hwy mileage is around 18.5 (factory menu) but TD will read around 22. I'm getting about the same mpg as before i had the chip but I do like the performance improvement.

I'm getting a 2015 and my biggest concern is being able to recalibrate the speedo for larger tires now and gears down the road. It would also be nice to be able to go in and change is so the fogs stay on with the high beams. Will any or all of them do this for me?

I called Super Chips earlier this week regarding tunes for 2015 JK. They said the Jeep did change the ECM from the 2014 configuration. Something along the lines of a rolling security code embedded in the software.

They are still R&D'ing to see if they can get in and change programming. I asked for a time frame, and the support guy thought weeks - perhaps a month or two.

I plan on getting a Flashcal with hopes that it can be upgraded to the Flashpaq once they figure out how to "hack" the new ECM.

I also did a little more research and found on the Diablo website that for the low price of $999 they will send you a tuner and a hack able ECM to replace your stock one. I can live with $400 for the tuner but I'm not swapping ECM's every time I need to go to the dealer for service or warranty work.

Please keep me posted on the Superchips info!

Anyone who thinks a Jeep can get really good fuel economy hasn't actually looked at one. It has the aerodynamics of a grand piano. There is only so much you can do no matter what you add-on or tune up.

Is there any sort of custom tunes for a jk? I'm pretty big into the diesel world and you will never ever see a canned tune in my duramax, efi live is what I use and always will or the truck. Efi live supports all Gm vehicles gas/diesel and recently picked up certain years of the cummins. I'd like to tune the jeep but I don't want a one size fits all, crap tune.
