Last night I was out in the carport adding some things to my Jeep and noticed something I'd never seen before. Maybe it was because it was dark outside and the carport lights were shining but I saw what looks like 3 circular areas on my hood where there is noticeably more metallic in the paint. Anyone else seen this sort of thing? Thanks.
I think it is just the lighting. If you look towards the loop there is a 4th spot. Move the vehicle either forward or backwards and see if the spots move.
Metallic paints are very hard to lay down. They almost always have bright spots and dull spots because of the way the light hits the flake.
Yeah, maybe so but I kept looking from slightly different angles but the spots didn't move as I changed the angle. I plan on looking a little closer this weekend. It's almost as if the paint nozzles just paused briefly while spraying. I don't notice any on the sides.
I got a look at her's this am, she has the power dome hood. and I didn't see any clumps of metallic in the paint. On the door ,Driver's, I thought I found one but it was just a hand print...........I have seen what you were talking about on a a couple of paint jobs from a shop here in So-Cal. Maybe your Jeep was painted on a Friday before a big weekend, but now days all paint is done by robots.......
I have a spot on the passenger rear door similar to that. They apparently did a touch up at the plant before it left. Picked it up from the dealer right after it came off the truck so I know they didn't do it.
My flares on my 16 billet silver have some weird spots like that too
