Problems with the controls on my dash

The electric window switches in the center of my dash act like they have a short....sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Also, the vent switch for the heat/AC seems to be sprung and won't let me change it to the floor or defrost. How hard and or expensive it this to fix? I've heard with other makes it is very expensive.

Hmm...a short [to ground] of a wire carrying B+ (12v battery voltage) will blow a circuit's fuse. So, there won't be any intermittent function. There simply won't be any function at all since a broken fuse causes an open circuit; no electricity can flow.

Intermittently-functioning switches are much more difficult to troubleshoot than switches that do not work at all. Have you Googled to find if any others have experienced a similar problem?

Do the switches start working again if you shut the jeep off and restart it?

Sometimes but not always.....if I "wiggle" them they'll eventually work except for the front passenger....the two rear switches on the back of the console for the rear passenger windows work perfect....could it be something in the plug where the wires coming out if the doors plug in to the wires coming out if the dash?

Yes. Do you have an aftermarket stereo? There is almost no slack in the wiring harness for the window switches. I'm sure it's not connected properly if wiggling helps. If it looks connected properly, disconnect it and give the contacts a good clean.
