Question about recall..

Ok, this may seem like an odd question but here it goes: I got the recall notice for my 07 about the Mopar Tow Bar... Ok, my issue is this, recall has correct VIN on it, but I don't have a tow bar.. All I have is the fish hook looking thing... But no tow bar itself.. Does that mean I got jipped when I bought my Jeep and it was suppose to have it.. Or they mess up with recall

I believe its an aftermarket Mopar part mounted in the front that's used when your Jeep is towed by another vehicle.

yeh it sounds like a difference in termanology, they say tow bar (that could be just the hook itself, say it has been breaking off during a recovery or whatever so they are having to recall them) or it could be the bar for the hitch reciever... but i would take it in and ask them all the same and get replaced whatever they are willing to replace all it takes is time.

i got the same letter and it is for towing your jeep behind a vehical like a motorhome. i thought it was wierd too cause i never got the mopar towbar either. i figured they sent the letter to everyone cause it says the towbar could let the vehical come free while towing down the road and that would suck for anyone. i also figured how would they know if you didnt buy the mopar towbar at a different time than when the jeep was bought.

I got that notice too and was about to call Muther Chrysler.

I met a couple at a Steel Soldiers Rally recently that had mangled their Mopar towbar on the way to the rally; they said that the Jeep tried to pass their motor coach on the way there...

I think the tow bar was an added accessory for flat towing the Jeep behind another vehicle. I took mine to the dealer and had them clear it from the computer. Of course I brought up the auto tranny recall that was coming down the pipe and the guys behind the counter looked at me like I was a retard.

^^ wow that worries me. my parents have a towbar i cant remember if its mopar or not but they just used it to tow their jeep to the desert. at least they made it with no problems.

Well, Muther Chrysler (Indian accent) says that they sent recall notice J24 to all Jeep owners that might have gotten the tow bar as an option (dealer installed and not recorded by VIN); it's a shotgun approach to avoid litigation.

Now regarding the pending recall for the autotrans fluid temperature sensor and idiot light, she says to expect the recall notices to start going out on Dec 15th.

Have a nice day and hope your Jeep doesn't burn up.

I just got mine in the mail, so I called the dealer were I bought the jeep, and he had to check the date of production from the vin number and told me not my jeep. not to worry. all was good. has something to do when your jeep was built.
