Rain - Just how Bad?

I don't have a soft top yet. Waiting on the Supertop NX to come out (don't make me wait till next winter Geoff!).

So I have the whole hardtop off on a beautiful spring day here in northern Alabama. It's great. Those doors are coming off too.

Rain chances are 30% through the night and tomorrow. I'm willing to risk 30%.

I am just curious though, how screwed am I to let my JK sit uncovered in a downpour?

I know there are drain plugs the floor, seats eventually dry out. I can handle that part. But what about the rest of the interior? Can it handle getting rained on all night and survive?

Yes

I've been rained on a few times without major issues. My radio gets a gremlin changing channels by itself, but it leaves after a few hours.

Do this though, toss a black trash bag over the steering wheel. I haven't had it happen, but if water or frost gets to the clockspring it won't be fun. I keep a few bags under my seat, as I try to tape 1 over my radio too.

Other than that, she'll live. No worries

It's the gizmo in your steering column that allows the electronics in the steering wheel maintain connectivity as you turn.

I had to ask the same question a few months ago.

I know where you can get a really cool column cover to save you from using trash bags

Hey that reminds me Linda-do I need one for Lil Red? -or is it just a JK thing? I have never had "issues" when I got rained on, but it has only happened a few times, and I USUALLY have some type of top and doors with me so it doesn't get rained on long-have I just been "lucky"?

You've been lucky John.... Both TJ's and JK's have clocksprings that can potentially be damaged from moisture... I use mine when I wash her topless as well, cause sometimes I'm a little careless with the spray...
