Raise Front Seats

I used to be considered as being tall, almost 6 ft. I must have shrunk because I can hardly see over the steering wheel of my Wrangler JK. The pneumatic lift on my driver seat will not hold in the raised position. I would like to raise my front seats about 2 inches. Has anyone done this? The Jeep garage does not have any parts for this modification and a Google search yielded no help.

The steering wheels on JK are adjustable to around 4", looks for a lever at the bottom-right of the steering column. That might help!

The problem is not that the seat lift doesn't hold, it is that every time you slide in and out you inadvertently push it thus lowering it a bit until it is noticeably lower. I fixed this by trimming the handle to a shorter stub and remounting it facing downwards so this won't happen again. If you need a pic let me know. Super easy and permanent fix.

I wish someone would make a riser for the passenger seat. My wife is short (5'3")and she says all she can see is the hood lol.be nice if there was a safe way to lift the passenger to match the driver's seat in the highest position.

Jeep makes them for the right hand drive version... of course it would be the driver seat in that version. I think someone looked it up... not so cheap.

Just saw this; sorry no pic yet but all you need to do is remove the cover on the handle and unbolt it. Once unbolted it will pull off. You can relocate the handle in a downward facing position. I found it easiest to trim some of the handle off and then mount downwards so you can still lower the seat without the handle hitting the floor. In stock position the handle faces the 9 o'clock position. Move it to the 6 o'clock position and your butt or thigh won't hit it getting in and out thus inadvertently lowering the seat.

Holy crap, I thought I was going crazy & so did my wife!!!

We just bought our JKU a few months ago & I kept telling her that I have to keep raising the seat everytime I get in. Super annoying!!!

I'm 6'1" but still want the seat a bit taller. If someone's got a permanent fix, &/or a way to permanently lift the passengers seat, then please share. I see O-Jr's idea & might just settle on that, but prefer bolts to the knife if there's another option.

i have been annoyed with the shrink seat issue. I just went an entire month without driving jeep. I placed the seat in the most up position, no one has touched it. It lowered itself 3 full cranks on handle. I've always known my issue wasn't hitting the lever daily, i was always watching to make sure i wasn't after reading that some speculate that was the cause.

I like my JK driver's seat all the way up. On my then new 2011 JK, after a few months of dealing with the mysterious sinking driver's seat issue, I realized it was probably me hitting the lever every time I exited the vehicle.

I removed the seat height adjustment handle, and re-positioned it pointing downward. This solved the problem for me. I didn't hit the lever when exiting and I never had the sinking seat issue again.

I also had this same issue on my new 2016 JK. I re-positioned the handle as described above and voila! No sinking seat issue.

maybe someone is getting in and out of it. If you look at the mechanics of the seat it really can't go down on its own without the lever being moved. It is not hydraulic it is mechanical. Are you sure someone did not get in the jeep even tho it has not been driven?
