Recent wreck

My 2014 Jeep JKUR was hit on the driver's side right at the front tire. The front bumper has a slight buckle in the center. The left fender was torn off. Drivers door has no damage. When I drove the Jeep out of the intersection there was a loud clunking noise coming from the front end. Is there a good chance that my frame is bent? Any educated guesses to any other damage? Any help and advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

From the angle of the impact it i'd say yes. Diectly behind the plastic fender well is the front of the frame depending on how hard you were hit is gonna determine the status of the frame. I'm sure the shop your taking it to will let you know. Hope your ok man!

Boo. That really sucks. Why is it always when you get something brand new some asshat wrecks it!! My wife took a brand new car I had to get coffee with a friend, opens the door in the parking lot and some lady comes zooming into the parking spot next to her and crunches it. It didn't even have 1000 miles on it!! She's lucky she didn't have her leg out the door.

Hope you are ok. Just make sure to take it to a reputable body shop. Your insurance adjuster will probably not make an assessment on the frame damage. But will tell you that the body shop can. Hopefully this is all on the other driver and then they can just bill for the actual damage repairs when they are being done.

Thanks for the help. Both vehicles were going about 10-15 mph. No injuries besides my pride.

This just sucks!!! At 10-15 mph id say I think your frame is fine but who knows. Just make sure the body shop is meticulous getting those lines straight again. Best of luck.

Make sure that you take it to a quality certified body/frame shop for repairs.
They will put it on their frame rack, and they will be able to tell you if the frame is tweaked!

Sorry !! This ^^

I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of bent parts. Tie rod, control arms/mounts wheel, possibly the axle or knuckle.

Im going to disagree. The stock JK frame is extremely strong, and very well braced. Looking at that photo, the damage looks minimal, probable a few axle components (tie rod, knuckle, control arm/mount, etc.) I would be VERY surprised if the frame was bent from that minor tap.

I agree with you but it's worth checking.

Control arms, Trackbar , diff housing, possibly shock and inner steel fender as well as the plastic fender. Looks like the wheel took most of the hit so front diff and suspension components suffer.

your frame isnt bent, if anything the crumple zone on the front of the drivers side may be tweaked a tad causing the bent bumper to be bent. lots of aftermarket bumpers out there that involve completely cutting that off anyways

Yes, but the Insurance Adjuster should agree to check it just to confirm that no damage has taken place.

This is a brand new Wrangler, and if it were mine, just for peace of mind, I would want it checked............

I definitely don't disagree, especially if the other driver's insurance is paying for it.

man I wish I could make these kind of determinations without seeing any more then the one photo shows. Any body know who is going to win the super bowl or maybe next weeks lottery numbers?
looks like it took a good hit on the wheel so possible axle is bent. Let everybody know what the adjuster says.

It is really sad, when we purchased a new vehicle, and then it gets in a accident, and the carfax has just depreciated it about 20%.

This happened to me back in 2003, I purchased a new Escalade, had it one week to the day, and somebody rear ended me!
Boy did that ever make me sick!!!!!!!!!!

Depending on the circumstances, you can sue for the value loss.

Yep, but I still have it with only 74,000 miles on it, and have no intention of selling it, so in my case it's a mute point. But for others that go to trade theirs in after a accident, and are not aware of the depreciation, WOW what a shock!!!!!!!

Its easy if you've been there. I had a similar accident a year and a half ago...

I would push for a new front end if it made any contact with the wheel. Axle, drag link tie rod. Most of the front end suff with bend after an impact.

The weak point is the control arm brackets on the front diff. They get destroyed quite easily in a side impact like this. Once they are bent it's hard to make them right again so usually the diff housing is changed.

Gotta have a shop that will play ball for that.

Thanks for all of the help and support. The insurance adjuster estimated $9,000. They are replacing the front axle, most of the suspension, and bumper/ sheet metal. Apparently the accident shifted the entire axle over about an inch. They are also replacing the oil pan because the front D/S had hit it. With 4000 miles is it too soon to switch to synthetic oils in both engine and front axle?
