Hey guys
I am looking to replace my stock AM/FM CD player radio in my wrangler unlimited sport. Doesn't even have Sirus.

I am looking at buying from OEM Auto Parts Co.
Has any one used them before?

Also has anyone ever replaced the stock radio? They say its all just plug and play but my local dealership said it isn't but they didn't seem to have alot of confidence saying that and they just ignored me.
I know because it's basic I'd have to buy the additional satellite radio antenna and bluetooth kit but beyond that was hoping for insight!

Thanks!!

i bought my audio from Crutchfield. Good prices and tech support is great. i replaced the head unit with a Pioneer blue tooth unit, front speakers, soundbar speakers and a 4 channel amp. I've never installed anything like that but it was pretty straight forward. It all depends if you want the head unit to power your speakers or if you'll run a amp and a subwoofer. Crutchfield throws in some extras for free too. I got my amp install kit for free and some brackets for the speakers, also the wiring harness. Good luck to you.

I replaced my 2011 RES stock radio with a mygig RBZ touch screen model out of a Dodge Caravan I believe. I bought it on ebay for $300. After the second time I turned it on it said Jeep instead of Dodge. For what it's worth, at the time, the dealership said they weren't made for Wranglers and that it wouldn't work. Which was true, the Wrangler didn't have an option for a non-gps head unit that was touch screen. They didn't start that till 12 or 13 I think. It was as simple a switch as I think it could have been. You have to take some panels off the dash to access it but it was a simple swap.
Now the hard part though is the Bluetooth, sat radio, and gps. If you get one and want those options it just took some more wiring for each. I chose not to do Bluetooth or sat radio because I was only after the touch screen and the 40gb hard drive.

If looking on ebay make sure you only look at high speed my gigs not the low speed. Unless you have an 07-10. I believe those years did have a low speed but you'll need to confirm that first. I know 11+ uses a high speed mygig. Also RBZ is the no gps model but comes ready for Bluetooth and sat radio. RHB is the whole deal sat radio, Bluetooth, and gps. There is a newer code for the 730N mygigs but I'm not sure what those are called. And finally pay attention on if it's an anti-theft model, most of the newer ones have that printed on the bottom center of the unit. If you buy one of those you'll need the code in order for it to work.

Just wanted to point out that be careful with radios on eBay or Craigslist. After 2010 a security feature was introduced that will require a security code to be entered upon powering up a radio that isn't linked to the VIN it was installed in. I just removed my 730n from my 2007 that the dealer installed for me when I bought the Jeep used in 2010. I installed a 430s and it required a code, the seller fortunately had access to their VIN and the radio numbers and got it for me. For those wondering, I'm trading in for a 2015. :thumb:

Edit, 2007 is high speed - 99% sure all years are high speed.

I just finshed my stock stereo upgrade. Stock deck, polk audio speakers & tweeters, 5 channel kenwood amp, line output converter, and a alpine type R 8in subwoofer. A gaggle of connectors and 100ft of shielded speaker wire. The only connections i cut were inside of the speaker boxes. Very easy process but time consuming once you know what your doing. Cost was about the same as it would be with a goid aftermarket deck but i hate how aftermarket decks look in jks. It has surpassed my wildest ideas on how good a system with a stock deck can sound.
