Hey what is the difference between rubicon shocks and Sahara shocks ?? Other than color. Thanks. Someone gave me a new set of springs and shocks and wondering if it would make any difference
The Rubicon shocks have a few different part numbers based on application.
If I remember correctly, in Mopar literature the Rubicon are referred to a "Performance" valving. The Sahara is referred to as "Heavy duty" valving. Tubing size and remaining construction is identical.
there is a pretty substantial difference between Rubi shocks and sport shocks with rubi shocks being high pressure monotube shock vs the sport being low pressure twin-tube shock.
to the original poster if you have 60K on your stock shocks they are due to be replaced. shocks degrade gradually so you really do not realize how bad they have gotten until you replace them.
Stock Sahara/Sport shocks are garbage. I run Rubicon new take offs, noticeable difference right away as far as ride and handling. Rear's have about 1" more down travel.
I replaced my springs (17/58 with 18/59) and shocks with Rubi takeoffs and it made a HUGE difference. The new combination definitely works better with both ride and handling.
