You will need the Warn Power Inturrupt kit from what I have read here. I will be installing mine and wiring it to my sPod this weekend. I found a thread on here somewhere that tells how to do it.
It looks pretty straight forward, I like having a power cutoff to the winch instead of it being wired directly to the battery so its not a constant load of power going to it even when not in use.
Most winches have a small wire that has to be grounded for the winch to work. You could wire that to an ottratw switch.
I don't know if they make 3 way switches but you could use any 3 way switch to winch in/out via reverse engineering of the winch remote. Or you could just run the winch remote cable through the window. It's not like you can hook the winch up without getting out.
Your winch doesn't use any power when it's not in use. None whatsoever.
Your starter is hardwired to the battery from the factory, no fuse, why is that acceptable?
My wife wants to use it for in and out. Ill be the one getting out to do the hooking or parking my jeep and then getting out and doing the hooking. I guess she just likes her winch power button more than the remote that came with the winch and the coolness factor.
I put one on the dash of my CJ5. It actually worked great. I would however put a lockout on it. The last thing you want to do is spool it out running down the road when grandma was trying to turn on the seat warmer.
I put it where I could hit it easily with my right hand in first gear. I could hit my front locker (on the stick) and the winch (on the dash) with my index finger, just slide forward a little to the dash, and it worked great.
I'm going to do this but first I will relocate the solenoid box under the hood to clean up the winch a little and keep hot wires off the winch.
What series of switch is that you used Lee?
M17 is a light circuit, not a dashboard dimming circuit. I suspect the dimming circuit originates under the dash. Does anyone know if it can be tapped, how, and will it dim the LEDs?
Thanks! I really appreciate the effort but that looks like a YJ, not a JK. I only asked because the wiring diagram on this thread shows a line to the dash dimmer circuit.
Is it just me or is the OTRATTW website slow as molasses?
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
