As soon as I got my '13 JK almost a year an 1/2 ago, I bought the TechAuthority Jeep service manual on CD. It has all the info I need to work on my vehicle, but when I upgraded my computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 recently, my service manual CD wouldn't display any data.
The CD labeled 81-370-13063-CD won't work with some IE loads on Windows 7 it turns out as I was informed by a nice fellow from TechAuthority. Even though I've had my original CD for quite some time and didn't have my order number with them (of course it's on my dead XP machine), they found my original order from when we lived in Nebraska and sent me a new service manual that works just peachy with my new computer here in Nevada.
I got a couple PMs about what I am going to do with the old copy and the answer is I'm going to keep it. I use an old ToughBook laptop in my Jeep for desert navigation loaded with a pretty accurate GPS mapping program, and the CD works great in that old XP machine for the eventuality I break something and can't figure out how to get it apart. It'll stays in the Jeep so I don't worry about leaving it at home.
I do this on my iMac. I have to use VMware Fusion in order to run some business software on the Mac. The added bonus was the ability to run the JK FSM from Tech Authority using XP. I just set up another virtual machine for XP, voila
I had the same problem. Usually all you had to do was go to Tools and select Compatibility Settings. Then that stopped working. That's about when I contacted Tech Authority. They sent me a fix. Now I am in the process of converting each page and section to PDF. I know this will happen again in the future. And the Software will probably be obsolete and no support. Just like Microsoft, there is a agreement when you buy the software that they only support it for so long. THE END.
You can set the version of IE that it works with in IE. That's how I keep my old version working. Really crappy they picked IE and failed to use more open standards for a browser.
Does this CD have the remove and replace instructions for camshafts and followers along with the special tools needed? If so I'm going to buy it for my 2015.
Thanks. The 2015 CD 81-370-15063-CD has been sitting in my tech authority cart since my post. Time to buy.
