Smile So I'm getting a new radiator

So - just thought I'd share.

For those who haven't read my other posts... After having the dealer parts department sell me the old HOAT for my '14 JKUS and doing the flush and subsequently leaking antifreeze from the bottom driver side corner of the radiator and smelling the burning antifreeze every day - my dealer and I agreed on terms to replace the radiator.

I am getting the radiator marked down and installed for no cost.

I think that's a fair agreement considering (as he pointed out), if I am adding coolant, I must of had a leak - and the coolant flush probably made things worse...

She goes in the shop tomorrow and will pick it up after work...

Here's to hoping this is the end of it... It is a brand new jeep radiator, he said, so, that's good.

Yes - and they are going to offer a one year / 12,000 mile warranty on the radiator as well. Forgot to mention that.

If it was leaking it should have been replaced unless you damaged it.

I was wishfully hoping it would be covered under the 5/100000 that 14's have. probably no such luck.

How would I know if it is warranted?

It's def. not covered under the 5 year / 100K power train warranty...

You're correct, it isn't covered under the powertrain warranty. There isn't a TSB regarding the "radiator" for 14 JK's. If there was a TSB it's way over on mileage and it wouldn't be covered, unless the dealer decided to do a "good will" replacement. It sounds like they agreed to a partial good will by discounting the part and not charging for labor. There's also no "recall" for the radiator on 14 JK's. A Mopar replacement part would carry it's own 12/12 warranty as the dealer mentioned.

My '14 had to get a replacement rad at like 35k miles and they denied the warranty because, "it was damaged by rocks bouncing off the radiator fan and shooting through the fins of the radiator" which was obviously "caused by off-road use/abuse"....

$600 to have them swap the rad because it was a week before my wedding and the honeymoon involved a 2k mile trip south, therefore no time to DIY it...

...stealerships, man.
