Soft top forming puddle...

Hey, brand new (1 week) JK came with a hard top, had dealer install soft top (to get warranty)and picked it up with soft top installed under hard top. Put the soft top up last Friday (same day as delivery) and I see this after our first rain. I did notice that the rear bar had a slight depression/downward bow to it and also that the piece that slides into the rear window had a similar curve to it (the soft top was sitting in the parts dept prior to installation). Should I be concerned?
Thanks,

Apologies on poor pic through screen :-)

That's not normal. I would think something isn't installed correctly. I've never had that happen and my soft top is 4 years old and stretched out much more than when it was first installed.

Edit: I do have a 4-door however. I still haven't seen that happen with 2-doors around here and we get a lot of rain.

Really? Water doesn't puddle like that at all on mine.

Haven't noticed it on other jeeps although I probably haven't paid that much attention to it.

I get a small puddle in between the windshield header and first bow on my 14 JKU w/ the premium top. Everything looks ok so I think its normal.

Since I was about to start washing my jeep, I thought I would test it with the hose. As I had thought, water runs right off, not even a small puddle, and my top is pretty loose these days. Is this a difference with the premium top, maybe?

I can only speak from experience with Bestop's Twill Supertop NX, (similar to the factory premium top), and that's not normal. Are there straps to screw into the rear bow above the rear window that aren't done tight enough (or at all)?

A new top that's only a week old should be super tight as it needs to stretch. They may have half-assed the job to get it on since they can be a pain the first time.

The rear bow on the Bestop, (who makes the factory tops fyi), does not have bend in it as you describe. It is striaght across from one side to the other. The tailgate bar that holds the rear window down at the bottom should be straight across too if it's anything like Bestops's own design, not sure how much different their design is versus the OEM design they manufacture.

The only possible place you should see puddling is in the front I would think between the header and the front bow that sits right behind the sound bar. Bestop provides a bar that you can put overhead to bow that part of the top upward a bit so rain does not pool there. That bar is probably not compatible with the OEM door surround design.

Yeah, it looks normal to me. It's a soft top. There's nothing underneath to keep it from bowing down.

If you can't get that fixed be careful with it... I had alot of sag in my (obviously much older) factory top and it started filling with water like that. A puddle of water froze in there during the winter and when it thawed out it ripped the seams. sending a ton of water and ice crashing into my back seat.

Obviously your top will be in better shape (and it is probably a better quality) than mine was I am just saying to be careful not to let it fill up too much.

Mine was tight as a drum when new, and it still doesn't sag like that 4 year later. I'd hate to see what that top will look like in 3 or 4 years.

If I were the OP, I wouldn't be satisfied with a stretched out top that's brand new, but that's me. Maybe I've just been incredibly lucky, but I've had no leaks, and 4 years later, looks tighter than the one that's new.

Thanks,
They put the soft top on under the hard top?

How's that even possible?

The top was rolled up in back but the arms attached to the pivot points. The windows were not attached. I gathered that this was how all dual top option wranglers are delivered.
