What is the better option for the money Tweeter mod or replace with aftermarket tweeter?

What year? Do you have the Alpine upgrade?

If you have an '07 to '14, you want to optimize the output by using speakers with high efficiency of 92db or higher and also they need to be 2 ohms impedance. If you use something that is 4 ohms, it will cut your amplifier output in half.

Cutting amp power in half doesn't mean it will not play as loud vs a 2ohm speaker

92db 2ohm speaker will have the same spl as a 4ohm 95db speaker

That is if the amp truly doubles power as ohm load changes from 4 to 2 and also if tweeters are of equal quality

Many class D amps actually produce less power at the lower ohm loads while many produce equal power. The big, heavy and power hungry class A or A/B amp can double power or close to it. I think my class A/B Phoenix gold elite.2 doesn't even double power, it's pretty close but is big, extremely power hungry and weighs 28 lbs :)

To be clear, the 2012 Infinity system is a 2 ohm system. So putting a 4ohm speaker on it is going to cut the amp output in half. Adding 3db to the efficiency of the speakers will bring it back to stock... Why would you do that? If you aren't putting an amp in it to begin with, that is not an optimized set up.

We have built an upgrade path for the '07 to '14 Infinity and Alpine systems that significantly improves clarity and output for very little $$. We call it the PRS system. It's based on putting in high efficiency 2 ohm speakers to noticeably increase output and improve the other areas with modifications.

The subwoofer really comes to life with a small amp, we use a class D PPI that fits tidy under the front passenger seat. That makes the system the PRS+.

Do you have an ohmmeter? You can measure them easily yourself just using the speaker terminals.

If a amp doesn't double its power when going from 4 to 2 ohms how can it gain that 3db of sound? Not a clue what the specs are on the infinity system but it's extremely unlikely a cheap oem amp can or will double its power when dropping its ohm load from 4 to 2. As I stated many class d amps (assuming that's what infinity uses) doesn't double power. Many of these amps produce equal or less power. Go look at the specs for alpine and JL's class D amps as examples. Only the old school class A and A/B amps can double their power. As I stated my elite.2 can't double its power and it's a $1,500 two channel amp.

Many state amplifiers have a cleaner signal when pushing a higher ohm load. Cleaner less distorted 4 ohm signal can sound better vs a 2 ohm load with higher distortion/thd/whatever despite sometimes having a little less power.

That's why I was trying to add some clarity for you. It is a 2 ohm system from the factory... The amp is designed and built to operate at 2 ohms. To get MORE out of it, we would have to drop to 1 ohm. Not going to happen. All of the factory drivers are 2 ohm except for the dash tweeters which are 3.5 ohm Infinity and 5 ohm Alpine depending on which system you have. And those tweeters run off the amp in the head unit and not the OEM premium amp anyways.

There are plenty of people that know audio pretty well, but they stumble a little modifying the Jeep system because they don't research that it is a 2 ohm system. So, I'm not trying to double the output of the amp by going to 2ohms, I'm just trying to maintain what it has to start with. Then we increase the efficiency by about 5db with the 6.5's we use. That's where the output comes from.

Obviously if you are stripping all the factory stuff, none of that matters...

My point is that you might be able to get more out of it with a 4 ohm driver.... It will not result in half the power going to a 4ohm driver vs the oem 2ohm load. Due to the amplifiers design its extremely unlikely the power will drop in half, more then likely only a 10% or so loss in power with a 4 ohm speaker if a loss at all. Due to the majority of manufacturers making 4ohm speakers you migh be able to find a 4 ohm speaker that more then makes up for the slight loss in power with a more efficient speaker plus allowing the amp to run more efficiently can result in better sound.

Infinity speakers are not for everyone, many do not like the more harsh/bright sound that they produce thus it's a good idea for people to listen to them vs other speakers when they are choosing what they want. I have been a infinity fan since the early 90's and still use their home speakers today (the old kappa line). Their quality has dropped way off after Harmon international purchased them. They use to make some of the best home and car products in the world..... Not the case any longer :(

Even though the amp is designed/stable at 2 ohms.... It will still produce a cleaner signal at 4 ohms....

Totally understand the system being a 2ohm setup from my factory. Look at how many blowse I mean Bose systems are .5 ohm.... Even using a 4 ohm driver with those results in huge sq improvements as well as increased volume.

My point is that people shouldn't only consider a 2 ohm driver, the difference in volume between that and a similarly efficient 4 ohm driver it's highly unlikely anyone can tell the difference unless they are using something besides their ears to determine max volume
