So I've noticed a squeaking sound when going over bumps while driving. It's driving me a little nuts. Seems to be coming from rear axle when going over bumps or recessed manhole covers on the street. Anyone else have this issue or any idea of what it could be?
Here is something to try for your mystery squeaks. I had a similar squeak after I installed my AEV rear bumper and spare tire carrier. Every time I hit a small bump in the road I heard a squeak noise coming from the rear of my Jeep. These squeaks were driving me nuts. I thought the bumper or spare tire carrier was loose somewhere so I returned to my 4x4 shop to have them diagnosis the problem and possibly tighten the squeaky bolts. The 4x4 shop tech guy sat in the very rear of the Jeep while another tech guy drove the Jeep over bumps. They found the squeak source. To my amazement, the squeaks were not coming from the bumper or tire carrier at all, the squeaks were from the hardtop rubber seal and rear hardtop glass! Yes, that's right, I said the rubber weather stripping seals. The solution was to apply a thin layer of Dielectric Tune-Up Grease to all rubber weather stripping seals on the hardtop and swing gate door. The squeaks disappeared. Depending on local weather conditions, you can apply dielectric grease a couple times a year. It keeps the squeaks under control and also keeps your seals conditioned. As crazy as this might sound, this worked for me!
I use Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease, 3 oz Tube,
Available at any auto parts store; (About $6.39 from Amazon)
Yea I'm also having a squeaking sound, but mine seem to be coming from the front when I'm driving. When I apply pressure to brakes it fades away but comes back after i let go of brake. Is there any ideas of what it could be?
It can be anything. I've heard of people using a spray type lube like white lithium grease. Spray around shock bushings, sway bar link bushings/bolts. Those are the two most common areas.
I had it bad on my Rubicon 2010 JKU. Then I started lubing up all the bushings with Tri-Flow and it took me a few sessions but I got it. You will really notice a squeaky bushing when you have the doors off. Hit all the moving suspension bushings, bolts, connectors, etc. I pulled mine out in the road so all the dripping would not mess up by garage. You can win this war it just takes a good lube, time, and patience.
As a guy with an older wife I would like to nominate this for quote of the week................ ha ha good advice for weatherstrip too........I use the 303 on my 2010 JK and it keeps them pretty quiet.
I wasn't sure this would work but it does. the Heims in my upper CA's squeak a bit. Now I wasn't overly concerned nor did it really bother me. I just hate rust and loosening the ability to easily adjust things. I put a coating of Fluid film around the joint/jam nut area. Seemed to quite them right down. Try it .. Stuff works great.
My ossue also headed to the dealer on thos thirsday, my fingers are crossed. 2015 6000k
