Over the last week I noticed my front driver wheel squeaking during turns. Over the last few days it's been getting worse. It's only during turns though and I can't find any leaks or worn parts. Any ideas?
Maybe a wheel bearing. They tend to make more noise when turning the wheel one way vs. the other. If it is it is best to get it fixed sooner than later.
I had the same issue, but it was a rear wheel that was making the noise. After doing a couple things like cleaning the brake and taking off the rotor to check the e-brake, it was the wheel bearing.
Get the tire off the ground. You may need to remove the brakes to feel for drag. Spin the tire first then grab 9-3 and feel for play. Good time to check the ball joints too.
Well I finally got some down time to check my front end and couldn't figure it out so I took it to a shop by my work. They found my front axle seal to be unseated and the noise to be coming from inside the axle during turns. they don't do axles at this place and recommended another shop. Any ideas on this?
Never heard such thing. There's no way to tell if the seal popped out unless he pulled everything apart. Plus Those seals are pressed in pretty good. Highly doubt that's your issue.
Ohh .... Are you looking at the plastic guard?
That's not really a seal. It does keep some stuff from entering the tube. Nothing That would ever cause any problems or make noises.
The plastic shield does not press up against the axle tube. It rotates and would be damaged.
