steering stabilizer

I got 4" lift with 35 x12.5 tires with the factory stabilizer it doesnt shake bad but more like a slight shimmy on the freeway at maybe 30-45 mph was wondering if spending the money on an aftermarket one would even be worth it and what would give best performance for the money.. any input much appriciated.

The popular opinion here is that the Steering Stabilizer just seems to mask what is really causing you shimmy. Check tightness of front suspension parts and have your tires properly balanced. If you want to replace your Stabilizer, there's many to choose from. I may be wrong, but im pretty sure they are all the same.

Agreed- how long since you last had an alignment? And a stiffer shock may help SOME, but it's just a damper- it will, as stated, 'mask' the real problem a bit. Shimmy at that speed is likely not aerodynamic- almost certainly either tire squirm or a suspension part. Time to get on your back and check her underneath Mark W.

ya I concidered the masking thing one problem is i bought the jeep brand new with the lift installed by 4wheelparts.. it only had test drive miles on it.. it was done via the dealership so i would assume everything would have been top shape but i guess you can never trust em on that so down on the ground i go i guess thanks yall!

Well, even if it had only been installed briefly, it may have been damaged during either of the two installations or, more likely, the removal- used suspension parts are generally a no-no, as they often require percussive convincing Mark W.

Hopefully the Dealer will honor any warranty problems. If the Dealer had the lift installed i would bring it back to them and have them balance the tires( on their dime).
