Sudden Change to Clutch Friction/Engagement Point

Hi Guys,

I got in my 2012 JK Wrangler Unlimited the other night and all of a sudden the clutch felt completely different. It was much softer and the engagement/friction point had completely changed . It used to be at least a few inches from the floor, however now it's barely an inch from the floor and there's no free-play in the pedal.. e.g. as soon as I release the pedal it engages immediately. So much to the point where taking of it first gear causes a shudder.

I took it in to my Jeep Dealership who said the 'couldn't really find anything wrong' and it seemed to be 'driving fine' . Having not known how it felt prior to this, maybe it was hard to explain... Despite this, they bled the clutch for me, and said they couldn't not find any leak/air in the clutch assembly.

I picked it up today and it is still the same. Feels like I'm driving a completely different car. The clutch feels much spongier that it was and it's not as enjoyable to drive.

Any ideas what the cause could be if the dealership bled the clutch and couldn't 'find' any problem? I live on a VERY steep driveway and leave the car parked there in gear every night... Is this something that would cause stress to the clutch as I noticed even in gear with engine off, it will occasionally lurch backward a couple of times before the gear seems to hold it. I've checked the brake reservoir and level is fine and now sign of leaking fluid.

Thanks for your help,

Ben
