Just wondering what people's thoughts are on these two tie rods. I currently have lots of Synergy parts under the Jeep and I love that you can adj. them while still installed. The Yetti stuff seems interesting as well.

Not sure if it matters tie rod wise, but I'm running a heavy (37x13.5, 113lbs) wheel/tire combo and will be going to a hydro assist setup over the winter.

I ran both and can say the Yeti is built to last a LONG time. Add the anti flop feature and the joints arent flopping around, pinching boot and loosing grease. The yeti is super easy to adjust and wont seize up after one year. With that being said, Both tie rods that will be great upgrade to your JK.

Edit: you mentioned hydro. The Yeti's tie rod will not flop like Synergy's. The only fix is those stupid boots.

What's the flop your referring to on Syngery's? I have had the Synergy for a couple years and recently added PSC steering. Is there an issue I should look out for?

Ill leave the details to the experts to discuss the technical aspects of both, I run a Synergy cause much of my stuff is Synergy, and every item I have from them has been set it and forget it,. The tie rod ends are supposed to be 1 ton GM stuff, available pretty much everywhere, and the BJs are not as fluffy as the stock ones, they're a lot tighter than stock, I did notice the difference in feeling rigth away once I've got it installed, and the diameter on the rod is the same as stock, so I didn't have to change my SS bracket, which happens to be Synergy as well.

As far as the thing seizing, disassemble the joints after taking the part out the box, put a little dab of anti seize on the on the joints, put everything back before installing in your vehicle, I do the same to pretty much anything that has adjustable joints, and have never had any issues with things getting seized up.

Have fun with either choice, they seem to be awesome products.

just installed the yeti tie rod as well as their top mount drag link on my jeep this weekend. definitely tightened up the steering quite a bit and overall the steering seems to feel a bit more confident id say. install was pretty easy. went ahead and added the artec front track bar bracket since we were under it anyways. i do wish id have noticed that i needed a bigger clamp for the ss to mount to the yeti tie rod but i guess its an excuse to upgrade to the fox ats.

Kjeeper, i know you said you had issues with the boots in the synergy tierod? makes me wonder if they have changed the boot for something better? as i see everywhere the boots were white, but the boots in my synergy tie rod are black. i bought the thing last month. Don't know if they would make a difference or not just yet, as i guess it's still to new to know.

Can you post a pic of those new boots

The anti-flop feature on the Yeti is really cool. Probably the the most innovative thing on a tie rod that I've seen.

The other tie rod that I really like is the RPM FAB tie rod.

Jk Heavy Duty Aluminum Tie Rod W/Clamp

That is a truly beautiful piece under the front of a JK and even better that it includes the proper stabilizer clamp. The resilience of the aluminum makes it quite desirable.

What's the flop thing ? the angle of the BJ ? just like the drag link is sitting at an angle ? is that a bad thing ? i tried to make it straight and i have to twist it hard to get it to move, the draglink though, i can move it with my fingers haha.

Ty as always Kjeeper, very informative.

I know several local people that have the Synergy tie rod and all area happy with it (as am I with the other Synergy products I have) and I had wanted to go full Synergy for all my suspension stuff, but that end a while back when I had to go with say bar links from different manufactures (on both front and rear). So, I just ordered the Yetti tie rod about 2 mins ago. I called them up with a few questions and Ron answered the phone and was able to answer those questions. The Yetti should be here around Friday. Now at least the local guys will be able to compare a Synergy to the Yetti.

Nice, make sure to take plenty of pics of the Yeti. I'm leaning this way pretty hard but have a few reservations, mainly the price. Anyone use a Yeti offroad yet?
Will do. I thought the Yetti price was pretty good. It's one of the cheaper "high end" tie rods out there.

I had the Synergy drag link and tie rod with the white grease boots that uses the coil springs to keep them in place. Not good. When the links would flop, the grease boots would move out of place. Upgraded to the Yeti tie rod and drag link. Grease boots stay in place, steering has a much better feel. Tighter, more responsive, and bump steer is completely gone.
I will be going with the Yeti links on my wife's JKU soon.

We stand behind the Yeti as well. We have sold and installed a ton of them with ZERO issues to date. We have ran them on all different setup and truly feel that this is one of the nicest tie rod setups on the market to date for the JK's!

Yes, you do have to run a larger SS clamp for the tie rod as the tie rod is a oversized one but that is nothing major. Steer Smarts now offers that option. We have also done a lot of the FOX ATS with this Tie Rod and the larger option from FOX works well also.

STEER SMARTS
Best part, free shipping and forum discounts for everyone! LOL...

85 years

Lots of good information on this thread just in the last couple days.

Just wanted to say, Steer Smarts is not new to the steering business. We have been manufacturing steering products for 85 years and is Ford Motor Company's oldest supplier. We have taken all our 85 years of "lessons learned" and applied it to the YETI series linkages to develop the strongest most durable linkage ever built for the Wrangler.
Our Tie Rod features are listed on the product page of our website.

I decided on the Yeti because of this site and hours of research. I have Synergy ball joints and because of some issues I see with those I looked at someone other than them for my tie rod drag link.

It's been on for several thousand miles and has not moved even a little bit since the install. 0 flop !!

Would definitely suggest the product.

I also retained my stock S/s by fanning a stud to my new clamp.

A friend and I both had issues with Synergy ball joints last year. Apparently they had a bad batch around July-Sept. of last year. He sent his back and they replaced them, I live nearby so I took mine back into the shop and they would have replaced them, but I upgraded to a ProRock 44 so took a credit. Just an fyi.

The tie rod and drag link are on my extremely short list. I've searched forums and the web and there's not too many people running them that post reviews on the web that I could find. Thanks for your post, seems like another satisfied Jeeper. Any pics of them installed? How are the grease boots holding up?

Can't tell you how many times I've had my synergy TR smashed on a rocked or bashed it off one getting a little angry I couldn't make an obstacle and just gave it gas. Still straight and still works fine https://youtu.be/0aFbDHr9m0o

Painted it just before I went to Rausch and you can see all the nicks in it from me hitting rocks. Following buggys and guys on 40's was hard my jeep lol

Look what arrived Monday. Install Thursday. My Dominion Off Road SS relocation bracket was sent to someplace in Kansas. Instead of them overnighting me a new one after I told him I needed it by Wednesday he sent it by mail and won't be here until Thursday. To me that is incredibly bad CS. I will go ahead and install the Yeti Thursday and run without a SS. I've been told it won't be necessary with the Yeti so I may just return the Dominion bracket. Sorry, but I had to vent a little.

Looking good... Let me know how the install goes. Looking for install shops around the country to sell and install our products.

Im not doubting Synergy makes a strong tie rod. I just think SS's is better designed and by people who build steering parts.

The rod ends are that much better IMO. Lets not forget the little things like e-coating and adjustment, also 0 jam nuts and flopping.
After 1 year both my Synergy's adjusters were frozen. 2 boots were toast because of the flopping .

^^

Ken, We design our own boots and they all must pass a Key Life test. Key life testing is a 17 day test where we articulate the tie rod assembly with a seal installed while blasting the seal joint with salt water. After the 17 days we measure the water content in the grease to make sure it's less than 1% moisture content. I've reviewed several of our competitors linkages and their seals seem to keep out only rocks and boulders. A seal is one of the most important features on a tie rod. The one you refer to is only a piece of rubber between the joint and knuckle. Close to zero engineering and cost.
Built to last a long time :)
Funny those MA boots were made after the fact because people had flopping issues.
