I'm hearing and feeling a thump through the steering wheel when I move the wheel approx. 12" from side to side while not moving. I think it's coming from worn out tie rod bushings. When I replace these bushings is there something else I should do/replace while I'm down there?

I'm guessing the tie rod end, the joint on the drag link that attaches to the knuckle. Very common for this one to wear first.
Have somebody turn the wheel. Feel around and look at all the joints, track bar and ball joints.
