Torque Specs, and Bolt Types

A) What's the Torque Spec for the Stockfront "Milk Jug" bumper bolts on a 2008 JK "X"? Would it, by necessity, be different for the Tube Bumper?

B) If my eyes aren't decieving me, the bolts are not "torx" but "standard"
bolts on the front bumper of a 2008 JK "X" (unlike earlier models which
apparently used "Torx" bolts). Agree?

Today, I finally ordered the Quadratec Tube bumper for the front, as I had indicated I was going to, and it should be here by Friday. I'll be changing it over on Saturday. Should be pretty straight-forward.

I haven't done it on my Jeep yet, but on bumper bolts I would just put all my arm strength into it.

Oh, I assure you........I'll use "enough" torque.....just by arm strength.

Anyone got a Service Manual for the 2008 JK "X"?

If you're worried bout them coming out, they shouldn't but you could always use a little blue loctite.

Believe it or not, I actually considered that ("Blue Loctite")

I got the old stock bumper off relatively easily. The Nuts didn't seize up or anything. The clips were a bit of a pain. I wrestled with them for a bit, but got em out. I just cut he road crap guard hangers with a heavy duty pair of wire cutters, about mid-way, and that allowed me to get the guard outa there to work on the clips on the frame. I found that using that same pair of wire cutters, I could get a grip on the middle of the clips and cut them, and they came right out.

There's a pair of electrical wires that were clipped inside the stock bumper, wrapped in a protective sheathing, (presumably for signal lights or something). I left the two side-mounted clips on, and laid the sheathed wires laying in the cross member of the frame.
I don't think much will happen to them like that, but I'm looking for options.

The brackets and the new bumper will be fully installed when my son-in-law gets here shortly. I need an extra pair of hands to line everything up.

"I" think (subjective) it will look really nice when done. I've already contemplated selling one of my acoustic guitars to buy the matching BACK bumper! Fog lights aren't too far in my future either, with the built it brackets on the tube bumper.

Pictures coming soon!!

Pictures

The pictures explain themselves........note the picture of the cross member with the wires laying along the inside. I got some black tie-downs, and put two in the holes and around the cross member to keep it from flopping out.

Hey that looks awesome! You should look for some fog lights to put on it too!
