So the other day the jeep (2012 JKUR) started acting funny. popped in my fancy code reader and boom, P0741 Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off. Of course my warranty literally ran out 4 days ago. Anyway im pretty sure its the lock up solenoid. Acceleration and rpm are inline with each other and no issues have been noticed. My hour long morning commute has no issues (colder ambient temp). However halfway back in the evenings with higher ambient temps it always populates and the converter unlocks. So im confident its the solenoid. NOW im pretty sure is have the A580 and not the 42rle, however, replacing the solenoid in this transmission appears to have never happened as ive scoured google for it. A bunch of stuff on 42rle though.
So does anyone have any insight of fixing this code and how to replace the solenoid? and what to actually buy?
You want to have out of warranty transmission issues dealt with by an actual transmission shop, not a dealer. They will be much more straight with you and more often than not they know what they are talking about.
I downloaded a service pdf and removal of the valvebody is super easy and the solenoid are just sitting there. Not in a pack like the 42rle. I just need to know what to actually buy the solenoid. I found a few places online but would rather see it in person to verify it's the correct part.
Why not go to the dealer parts department, and look at the part, then order it online? You won't be scoring any points with the parts guy, but you'll accomplish your goal, and save $$.
so the solenoid didnt fix the problem. drove for awhile yesterday and the code came back. what would be the next check? TCM?
