I think I can make my fenders look good by doing the trimming mod but I have questions about the marker light.
Its there for a reason so I am assuming its required, is this true?
After guys trim this out I see some tack it on the inside of the fender which I think looks bad. Is there some solution that can put a light back near the original position. If you guys have used LED's please give details about what part to use and any information on how to do it.
I like the look of Bushwackers but I am choking on 600+ bucks when I have seen some great trimmed fenders which cost about 20 bucks and do the same thing. Its just that light bothers me.
Thanks for any tips.
I'm going to mount them to the front outside of my trimmed fenders. I will be doing it sometime this week.
For the record... I actually just pulled off my bushwackers to go back to trimmed fenders. I cut them with a razor blade and head gun. I don't even need edge trim.

Sorry I missed this. I pulled my bushwackers because they got dinged up on the trail. They just weren't made to take hits on narrow rocky trails. Trimmed stock fenders just flex and come off. I have several spare sets, and they are dead easy to trim.
Knuckles65 did a real cool setup with his. I found a pic of it floating around you could pm him or look up the thread for it (i know he posted it in the "what did you do to you JK today" thread).
I have exactly the same setup - and we've discussed doing the cut in the bumper cap like you did. I don't know if I care enough to do it. I thought about getting the really small LED's that you can buy with the Metalcloak fenders - I mounted them under the Metalcloaks on my TJ and they look really good.
Is there a law that says you are supposed to have that light? I am assuming yes or Jeep wouldn't have put it there but I am not positive.
I have a RR bumper with storage ends. I may do that mod but I am not sure if I want to make a hole in the end.

Not sure about other states but here in MS not that I'm aware of.. All they worry about seems to be at least one headlight and at least two brake lights.. Don't ask how I know!!
I've been thinking of wiring up a row of LEDs under mine, I wish I knew how to make them blink with the turn signals too, that would be neat. For now, all I did was drill a hole in the fender liner that fit the wiring harness, and it looks ok.
Hey, anybody know where to get a good supply of the small plastic Christmas tree fasteners that hold the fender liner in place? I found some at a local auto parts store but they're expensive and they suck. Anybody got a good source?
I trimmed the eom housing and remounted it with some basic hardware from home depot. It actually looks really clean and the wiring is pretty well protected. I also decided to keep about 1/2" of the fender sidewall. Plenty of clearance for me.
You might get a ticket for those white lights on the side like that. Cornering lights are amber for a reason, white lights indicate the front or rear of a vehicle in the direction of travel, red lights are rear stop/turn indicators.
I did the amber strips. Bought them at AutoZone for $10. They're like 6" long and work great.
This is a decent write-up for cutting the fenders as well as relocating the marker light. It has step-by-step instructions and a parts list. I think the marker light looks pretty clean.
