Trimmed Fenders and the Marker Light???

I think I can make my fenders look good by doing the trimming mod but I have questions about the marker light.
Its there for a reason so I am assuming its required, is this true?
After guys trim this out I see some tack it on the inside of the fender which I think looks bad. Is there some solution that can put a light back near the original position. If you guys have used LED's please give details about what part to use and any information on how to do it.
I like the look of Bushwackers but I am choking on 600+ bucks when I have seen some great trimmed fenders which cost about 20 bucks and do the same thing. Its just that light bothers me.
Thanks for any tips.

I just got these is. 2 x Car Truck Trailer Piranha LED Side Marker Blinker Light Lamp Bulb Amber - Led Household Light Bulbs - Amazon.com

I'm going to mount them to the front outside of my trimmed fenders. I will be doing it sometime this week.

For the record... I actually just pulled off my bushwackers to go back to trimmed fenders. I cut them with a razor blade and head gun. I don't even need edge trim.

Sorry I missed this. I pulled my bushwackers because they got dinged up on the trail. They just weren't made to take hits on narrow rocky trails. Trimmed stock fenders just flex and come off. I have several spare sets, and they are dead easy to trim.

Is there a law that says you are supposed to have that light? I am assuming yes or Jeep wouldn't have put it there but I am not positive.
I have a RR bumper with storage ends. I may do that mod but I am not sure if I want to make a hole in the end.

Not sure about other states but here in MS not that I'm aware of.. All they worry about seems to be at least one headlight and at least two brake lights.. Don't ask how I know!!

I used the JDM amber side markers. I found them on eBay for $3.99 with bulbs, and zip tied them to the fender braces that come off the frame.

I've been thinking of wiring up a row of LEDs under mine, I wish I knew how to make them blink with the turn signals too, that would be neat. For now, all I did was drill a hole in the fender liner that fit the wiring harness, and it looks ok.

There is a simple mod to make them blink. Do a search for the side marker mod.

I have exactly the same setup - and we've discussed doing the cut in the bumper cap like you did. I don't know if I care enough to do it. I thought about getting the really small LED's that you can buy with the Metalcloak fenders - I mounted them under the Metalcloaks on my TJ and they look really good.

That's a great look, especially at night. My Jeep is a dark color so it should show well. I think it's something I'm gonna start working on. Maybe tie it into my existing LEDS. Thanks for posting.

Those amber strips in the hood look great! I'm definitely going to switch to that.

Yes, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108. And, in a way you're right-- automakers probably wouldn't put seatbelts in a car if they weren't required by law, and the ones that did would have all kinds of selfgratulatory marketing about how they provide seatbelts in their cars.

Because it's required by Federal law, it's automatically required in *every* state.
