Turbo Chargers

I have seen supercharged Jeep engines but I am wondering if anyone here has used a turbo charger? Or is turbo charger not desireable for this type of off road application?

There was a fellow with a turbo shop in NC offering a kit last year. There wasn't much interest in it though.
I think it would work pretty well. My little turbo car has a 1.6L engine and makes more HP & torque at the wheels than my Jeep --- and it does it from 1600 rpm and weighs 2000 pounds less...

Owning turbocharged cars before, I'd have to say that turboing a Jeep would not be the best thing to do since you have to build boost in order to make power. Instant power coming from a supercharger would be a better choice since crawling and mudding keeps the motor revs down low. Also, decompressing the engine to install a turbo would lower the hp/tq of the engine off boost (where you're going to be most of the time anyway).

I was thinking twin-scroll; that should mitigate lag issues.
The heat is what bothers me; it would get to well over 400 degrees under the hood during a crawl.

RIPP makes a nifty supercharger kit.
