Warn Zeon

Ok,
So after monday night I descided to stop dragging my feet on getting a winch.

After looking around, Im leaning towards the 10, 000 lb Warn Zeon S winch. It comes with a synthetic cable. Unless I'm mistaken, I think it's supposed to come with a recovery kit consiting of tree saver, snatch blocks ect?

I'm looking at using the Maximus-3 winch mounting setup.

Is there anything ealse I need to consider?
Thanks

Winch doesn't automatically come with a recovery kit. The vendor may have a special that includes recovery kit.

Right now there don't appear to be any super cheap deals for the winch (I got mine for $600 after Rebate)... so I would go with a vendor that either has a discount code of maybe 10% (unlikely since Warn usually sets prices) or whichever vendor has free shipping and a free recovery kit.

If you have a 2 door a Warn Zeon 8 (8000lbs) may suffice. Edit: I see you do have a 4-door.

Was a a jeep show in PA last weekend, and warn does currently have a deal where you get their recovery kit ("~$200") with a premium winch purchase.

Looked at the thread headline real quick and wondered what Warren Zevon had to do with Wranglers!

Maybe the wrangler is the vehicle of choice for Werewolves of London.

Accessory kit is only for purchases up to July 31st. A couple of months ago they had a free wireless winch controller and when I bought mine they had a $100.00 rebate. On the right side of the forum pages it shows $150.00 rebate but I didn't see it listed on WARN's site Warn Industries - Jeep Winches, Truck Winches, Offroad Accessories, Offroad Lights, Mounting Systems

They always seem to have something going on.

The rebates were done long ago-the banners just haven't been updated. Right now the promo is the recovery kit.

Same here! Picked up a Zeon 10S. Mounted it on a Warn Rock Crawler bumper with grill guard. Sent away the paper work and had my recover kit within 2 weeks. I was surprised to get it so quickly!

I got my zeon 12 for $600 from work. We supply them so the price is irrelevant. But they are a slick winch that's for sure. I also went with the rock crawler stubby. We had the promo going on as well. But I missed it. Either way I'm happy with the purchase. Oh and I have the wireless remote... The best! I recommend it 100%.

How do you like that bumper? Did you have to relocate or modify anything?

That looks awesome, I have an almost identical set up in the works.

Is there a reason not to go with the zeon 12 vs the zeon 10? I always think bigger is better and it's a bit scary that it says to replace the synthetic rope often.

That's one reason I'm considering going with steel.

Exactly, and they both meet the high waterproof rating.

I went with the Warn Zeon 10 last month. Got 10% off through a vendor here which is unheard of for Warn and got my recovery bag in 2 weeks too.

I really like the bumper! It's got everything I was looking for, a place to mount the fog lights, 'D' ring mounts and a place on each side for the high lift jack.

Had to relocate the canister and use a Die Grinder to elongate two holes in the frame for new brackets. Wasn't that big of a deal.

Thanks WhiteMud!
I picked up a neoprene cover as well to keep the sun off the synthetic tow line. Was REALLY on the fence with steel vs synthetic but decided to go with the safer, lite weight tow line. We'll see how long it lasts.

I went with the zeon 8 because I got a really good deal. It comes with both cable and synthetic just make sure you get the S if you want synthetic.

I went ahead and placed my order with Maximus-3. They had a complete kit available, to mount it to my 10A bumper! I ordered it before July31st, and it should come in Tomarrow! As long as I get my order form submited by the end of August I should be able to get my free recovery kit too!

I did a quick check online and didn't really see any deals out there. Most were priced around $1170.00-$1199.00 price range. I would check with supporting vendors to see what prices they can offer (free shipping, 10% off etc...).

When I bought my Zeon 10-S earlier this year, I missed out on the Warn's rebate so I was in the same quandary as you are now. At the very least you will be able to support the Forum's vendors. Good luck in getting a good deal.

That's disgusting that they can charge that much.

Yea. I was set on a Tiger Shark 9500 but I do plan on needing and using my winch so concerned about making sure it is good. I heard the Warn VR is all china so looking to avoid that winch.
