Just upgraded my Mopar to Pro Comp wheel lugs. They told me that is what will fit my Jeep Sahara with factory rims. I Plastie dipped the rims last weekend. The flare is very small compared to the Mopar lugs. Do they look ok to you guys.

So is anyone else using the pro comp lugs with no problems. I was just wondering about the smaller flare with the factory rims. I torque them too 100ft pounds. Went for a highway drive all ok.
The conical seat on the stock lug nuts seams to have abrasion marks that run higher than the the height of the seat on the Pro Comps. Torque isn't an indicator that the lugs are fully seated because the edge of the conical section on the Pro Comp lugs could create the torque.
If you have a micrometer you can compare which section of the lugs match.
Take out on of the Pro Comp lugs and compare the scrub marking to the stock one. If they are marks all the way to edge, I would not use those lugs. They make work fine ... until they don't.
Spares on Wranglers have a tendancy of walking away at night at a few stores in our area. The local Jeep dealer typically throws a kit of 5 MOPAR locking lugs (one for each tire) for their customers. They didn't fit with my Pintlers so I went with the Gorrillas. Great product that works great.
They're not nearly as "shiny" as the picture represents all though they do have a gloss finish.
I got dp custom (i think thats the name) ones from amazon for 25 bucks. They come in a 20 pack or 23 pack so you can throw them on the spare as well. They are glossy. As for not contacting and such theyre fine. Its a lug nut for christ sake. Torque them and be on your way. They actually fit better and keep you from dinging up your rim with sockets and such.
I used Gorilla spline drive lug nuts on my mustang since the replacement wheels had a smaller diameter hole for the lug nuts, they worked fine. However the wrench adapter was a little weak.....you can buy spares from Gorilla I broke a couple of the wrench adapters.
I just got a email back from Pro Comp about the lugs. They said they where fine to use with my factory rims. My son who is a tool and die mechanic is checking out the Mopar and the Pro Comp lugs. But as of now I am leaving them on. Thanks.

It's the angle of the taper on the lug nut that you need to be concerned with. As long as they are the same angle or pitch then there is nothing to worry about. I wouldn't be as concerned about the amount of contact or surface area the taper has.
Based on the pictures, they look fine to me.
I would torque them down and then re-torque them after 25-50 miles. They should be fine.
I also used the McGard lug nuts referenced. They seem to be high quality and I think have a lifetime guarantee against rusting. The Mcgard rep I talked to recommended using the bulge style lug nut (which is what the Mopar nut is) with aluminum wheels.
Thanks I will be looking into them. I found them on Amazon for $78 Canadian. McGard 84563BK Chrome/Black, 1/2-Inch, 20 Thread Size) Bulge Cone Seat Style Wheel Installation Kit for Jeep Wrangler, 23 Piece
Ok so UPS delivered my new black chrome lugs with matching locks from McGard. All installed and torqued 100ft pounds.
New on the left.
