Hey guys,
I'm currently dealing with my local 4x4 shop on having the 2" AEV budget boost lift installed on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara.
They advised me that I should also have exhaust spacers installed in order to prevent damage to the front drive shaft. The exhaust spacers are around $50 and would increase the total cost for labor by about $80, so to have these exhaust spacers installed I'm looking at an extra $140. They mentioned that I can choose to not have them installed but I'd be assuming some risk there.
I concurred with them that I would like the exhaust spacers installed when the time comes because I certainly don't want any issues down the road. However, I was just browsing around online and every article I read mentions that exhaust spacers are only required for lifts 2.5" or greater. Manufacturers for these exhaust spacers also mention on their product description that these are intended for 2012+ JKU models with 2.5" lifts or taller.
Can someone confirm if they are actually necessary when lifting 2"? I don't mind spending the extra $140 but I don't want to do so if it's unnecessary. I will need to let the shop know what I decide when they contact me back.
Thanks in advance,
