Hey Jeepers, I have a 2015 jku sport. I just got a smittybilt xrc 9500 lb winch with a rock hard winch mounting plate, it's going on the stock bumper. Will this winch be heavy and dip my front end or not really? If someone has pics of this setup stock please share. Thanks guys/girls.
I lost about 1/2 inch when I used the Rock Hard winch mounting plate and a warn zeon 10k winch to the front of my Willys 2 door using the stock bumper and it is a solid set up, much lighter than using one of the heavy aftermarket bumpers. Pics are on my jeep profile.
I run a stock front bumper with RH4x4 winch plate and VR10000S and dip is about 1/2" I actually like the stock bumper it is light and cheap to replace and has crush cans.I have stubbied mine with Rough Country end caps.
I have the RockHard aluminum full width bumper with the Smittybilt 10k X2O winch (synthetic rope) on a 2015 Rubicon unlimited. I noticed no dip.
I think the aluminum bumper weighs less than 40 lbs.
The only concern I have is even after using all the washer and the longest bolts, the winch is VERY close to the grill. The winch does not touch the grill but the cables do. I really like the bumper, and winch and would buy both again.
Measure the distance between the spring mounts and just set the stuff on the front. Re-measure at the same spot. Buy some spacers of the appropriate thickness to make up for the loss if it's a concern to you.
The loss, if any, will be unnoticeable to the untrained eye
