Windshield Brackets Warning on Rust

I just wanted to give anyone a heads up on Mopar Windshield light mount of a possible rust issue that could occur.

I installed these brackets a year ago when my dog bought them for me for Christmas and they fit and work great. Yesterday though, I had to take the passenger side off due to rust on the bracket. The rust covered about 1/3 of the bracket. Thankfully I put a rubber pad between the bracket and the windshield frame so the rust did not touch the body of my jeep.

I live in upstate NY so rust is common although on something like this and only a year in, I would think it would have lasted longer.

I just wanted to warn everyone that if they are going to install something like this, they should make sure to put a rubber pad or something between the brackets and your body so there is a buffer for situation like this. If I did not have this, the rust would have been a lot worse since it would have probably been against the body of my jeep and cost a lot more to fix rather than a simple powder coat of the bracket.

The other side did not rust at all so I do not know if it had to do something with that side or the part itself. The rust could have started due to a rock chip or any other various reason.

Thank you,
Dan

Mopar generally doesn't make their own products, they generally rebadge others. Were these the rebadged rugged ridge ones? Ill have to check out mine to see if they rusted as I'm in upstate NY as well.
