TJ heater question

My heater is acting funny.... when I am at higher rpms the heater blows very hot.. when at an idle it blows cold air no matter what temp the engine is at.. works fine when driving unless i sit for a while then back to cold air. I think maybe i need to flush the heater core, however the coolant is a little low.. not much though.i dont know what coolant i should add?, it has the factory coolant still in it tests out fine so i dont want to drain and replace the whole coolant system.. obvioulsy i would like to add coolant before i flush the heater core to make sure its just not a little low on coolant....what coolant comes stock in the 01 sport? what coolant could i add to it?

Does your temp gauge read a good temp when you are driving? Does it go down when you sit for awhile?

I just stumbled upon this and am having the same problem. Could be a heater core leak?
