01 tj front differential probs

my front differential is leaking fluid and i want to change the gasket, but cant seem to find one at retail store (the zone / npa / o'rly) they only have the rear ones (will this fit?)(i bought one but the hole do not match up and the guy told me there were 2 kinds for my jeep so i will check to see if it fits the rear or not later) if not where can i find one? i was trying to stay away from rtv but if i have to i will use that instead. thanks for any help

i assume your talking about your front diff cover... if so, just use RTV all the way around and go full circle around the bolt holes. put the cover back on and fill her up.

yes the cover is what im talking about, (how long does rtv last?) i have heard mixed reviews about it and it just seemed easier to change the gasket if i can. one guy i talked to at npa told me that it must be rtv from the factory because he couldnt find a gasket for it. (is this true?)

im sure the factory has a regular gasket. RTV last as long or longer then a standard cork or rubber gasket. Ive used it for years. after it dries and you have excess rtv sticking out you can just cut it with a razor.
