01wrangler sport tranny noise or clutch

My 01 wrangler sport 5 speed (nv3550) tranny is makeing some kind of noise i never heard befor it sound like a rattle or something is spinning and it loose it only happens when im parked not in gear at a idle. When i push the clutch pedal in the sound goes away then when let off the sound get a little louder the for 5-10 sec then get lower. I not sure if the sound there when im driving there to much road noise. Is this normal or is something in tranny going.

It depends how mechanically inclined you are. It involves pulling the transfer case and transmission out. At that point you might as well look at doing a full clutch replacement. A new clutch will run right around $200.00

Wouldn't hurt to stop by your local transmission shop to see what it
would cost for them to fix it.

A bad throwout bearing is just the opposite. It makes noise when the clutch is depressed as that is the only time it actually spins.
The OP's noise sounds like the typical NVG3550 bearing noise.

That's what mine was doing a couple years ago and ended up being the throw out bearing, same as what he described his is doing.

It's just your transmission spinning while not in gear. They all do it.

X2, the throwout bearing is not spinning or doing anything until the clutch pedal is stepped down on.

Not likely for the above reason. Memories get hazy on some symptoms, bad throwout bearing typically only make noise when stepping on the clutch pedal which is when they are engaged/start doing anything.
