03+ Rubi Automatic w/ or w/o mods?

I will be buying a Rubi very soon. I basically will be looking for a stripped automatic in orange color. I am not sure whether I should go for something with some mods already done or not. I enjoy working on cars, so I wouldn't mind doing the stuff myself and it would be more rewarding. On the opposite side, I know that I could probably get a pretty good discount by buying one with mods already. What would you do? Are you leary of someone else's work? What lift kits should I avoid?

welcome to the forum. i've heard bad things about the rough country lifts for tj' so i'd avoid that one. also stay away from any body lift above 1.75." as for what i'd buy (modded or not) that depends on price. mileage and condition, but i would be more inclined to buy one w/ little or no mods and then add the mods that i want later.

Personally, I'd be more comfortable buying an un-modded Jeep as you just don't know for sure how well the mods were installed. And many times, the quality of the mods may be poor but you may not know that until later. Suspension brands I personally would avoid are ProComp, Rough Country, Tera, and Skyjacker. Well respected brands include Rubicon Express, Currie, Full-Traction, JKS, Clayton, and several other good ones that slip my mind at the moment.
Gone wheeling Friday through Sunday.

When you have a choice, buy American.
