03 TJ dash removal question

How do you take out the 2" wide strip that runs across the top of the dash? This is the strip that has the defroster vent mounted into it.

I've had a mystery clunk for several months, that I thought was the infamous steering shaft clunk. I greased up the boot on the shaft and the clunk persisted. So after driving on some crappy roads, I was able to isolate the clunk to behind the instrument cluster, under the top of the dash. This drives me nuts because it doesn't do it all the time, just on certain roads, and always crossing railroad tracks (which I do everyday ).

Reach behind (closest to the windwhield) and see if you can get any movement. if you cant then get a small flathead screw driver and get under the front part and work it under the panel. It is just a snap in piece and once you get part of it up you can just pull the rest of the panel out.
