03+ TJs - relocate evap canister?

I remember seeing someone on here do this but I forget who it was...

I need to relocate the fuel evaporation canister that sits in the back of the passenger rear fender.

I've read about a guy removing the canister to give more space but leaving the other emissions stuff back there so that no codes are thrown... I've read about another guy who relocated the entire setup to under the tub using 6'-12' of vaccume hoses... and I think I've heard of another guy just removing the whole thing altogether.

Who here has done this and which way did you decide to handle it?

Thanks,

Ben

did some more searching and reading and find out it's not just the fuel evap canister that is back there but also the Leak Detection Pump or LDP and some other stuff. If I relocate it I can't extend the lines more than 36" otherwise the LDP takes too long to pressurize the system and it will throw a code thinking that there is a leak. As long as I don't relocate the whole thing 36" I'll be okay. Now I've got to find room under the tub to put it, or I can put it in the tub I suppose.

I relocated mine to one of my buddy's Jeeps. I have a CEL on all the time, but I get used to it, and pay attention to my gages enough that I am not worried about serious issues with the motor itself (overheating, no oil, etc.)

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!

Unfortunately that's not an option for Ben. We have emissions testing here in AZ and they won't even test it with the CEL on let alone pass it if the stuff isn't there.

Ben, are you actually relocating your tank or are you trying to put a cell in there?

I plan to reuse my tank like you and Joe are doing.

Can't you just bolt the Evap cannister and the LDP to the inside of your fender right next to where you are putting the tub?

Wait, you didn't have to relocate it when you installed the LED taillights? Or did you not have the LEDs prior to now?

Yeah, that will probably be the best place for it. I'm not planning on moving the tank into the tub just yet though (still my daily driver for the next 4 months) so not sure where to put the stuff exactly... hmmm or maybe I should ask John about moving the tank now too

didn't have to relocate it for the LEDs cuz I have super thin LEDs (1/4" or something like that)
