Exclamation 03 wrangler X rear suspension

hello i put a 4 inch skyjacker full suspension lift in a couple months back. when removing the rear shocks all 4 top bolts snapped off. well we ended up knocking off the nuts welded up top of the mount then put new hardware and tighted it down im afraid the mount is to screwed up causing both shocks to come unhooked and its a bouncy ride and not safe especially going thru snow. the one (been told its called a dog bone) that goes thru the bushing in the top of the shock broke. so i went onto quadratec and bought conversions Warrior Products 160 - Warrior Products Universal Shock Mount Conversion - Quadratec.
My idea is taking a peice of metal and mounting on top of the old mount then taking the one mount bolt up through that metal and be done with it. any ideas on what to do here? im afraid these brackets arent going to work now that i got them they seem to be to narrow. please help finally got a garage to do it in and found out tomorrows the only day possible.

So my neighbor and fellow tj owner just replaced his rear shocks and had this problem with those same bolts. He drilled out the threaded holes and replaced them with a grade 8 bolt, washers(flat and locking) and nut for each of the ones your replacing.

I know that space is limited up there and I believe he had to use a bit extension to reach up there.

When I see him ill ask for specifics. I luckily got my bolts out on my tj shocks so I'm not sure of how or where to get access to the other side of where your drilling to tighten everything up.

Alright thank you. Unfortunately the way we ended up doing it was cutting holes in the floor board over the shock mounts then chiseled off the nuts that were welded to the top of the mount then put blots washers and lock washers in and they still came loose on the passenger side the one side of the dog bone snapped right off so I bought the conversions above. Just trying to figure out how to mount that. Geuss I will be taking it to a fabrication shop n let them figure something out for it

Oh wow I feel for you on that one but it sounds like a good plan. I would also put my 2 cents and say that I would use a larger piece of reinforcing metal to weld in. Reason, with that the amount of force that it will have to withstand is great so a larger piece of metal will help spread that out.

Good luck!

Thanks man i got the holes patched up took some sheet metal calk and a few self tapping screws then bedlined over it absolutly no leaks. and yea we are thing 1/4 to half inch thick piece to weld up in there. I'm going to take it to a local fabrication shop and get it done as soon as I have money to get it done. Along with some exhaust work. I will let u know the out come.

Going Sunday to my buddy's body shop we are going to tackle the shocks hoping all goes well. Any ideas how much of a pain dropping the gas tanks going to be? Obviously need to drop it to have room to do anything up in there and with welding up in there that's got to b removed or shit might blow up lol

Gas tank skid has a few blind nuts above the cross member... two of mine spun. good luck.

No such thing as overkill when fabbing junk up to take abuse... keep that in mind.
