04 Sport getting an axle swap

Last year I came across a '04 Rubicon (auto) that had been t-boned early its life with less than 10k miles. I picked it up cheap with the intention of swapping its axles (transfer case, locker pump, etc) to my '04 Sport (also auto, no 44 in rear) as long as everything was in good condition... and wow are they!

I've read lots of threads, and some not agreeing with others so to avoid another migraine I figure I would start this thread so I can understand it! And so I could post pics of my progress as well!

So without any further ado…

1) Are there any differences from the Sport (just the frame at this point) than the Rubicon frame?
A local “jeep” guy says they are, but they look the same to me, what’s the truth here? I wouldn’t think there would be since they aren't the unlimited model. Am I right?

From what I can tell, the Rubi axles should swap right over. Not forgetting to mention the transfer case and of course the locker pump and wiring (thinking of just putting the Rubi harness in for the best fit).

Thoughts? (I’m prepared for massive public flogging here)

Frames mounts will be the same, the axle swap will be the easy part, everything will bolt on assuming the axles are still straight. I'm not sure about the wiring though. Now would be a good time to lift it and do adjustable CA's too if you havnt already

I was expecting a pretty straight forward swap but his argument seemed unfounded and after searching the web didn't find anything regarding a difference so I figured come here and ask those who know more! Thanks for the help!

I'm pretty much doing a tear down on the sport anyway and I have a few things in mind for it and figured I would use the rubicons wiring harness (if intact that is, if not get a replacement) to make the lockers and such a cleaner swap.

I'll be parting out what I don't need from the Rubicon soon, I'll be posting a classifieds ad and a link will be in my signature.

Some things I know I won't be keeping:

Black soft top (no tears or cracks) + fittings
factory cage
Rubicon rims and tires (4+ spare)
factory front bumper
factory cd player
signal lights (all)
factory fender flares...

From my 04' Sport:

D35 axle (complete)
D30 axle (complete)
transfer case
All seats (no tears)
carpet
rollbar covers

and other stuff I can't think of right now. I'll be posting pics soon but if anyone's interested PM me. Price's are up in the air, but everything I'm parting is in near perfect condition, the pics will speak for themselves!
