04 TJ Console

My daughter has an 04 TJ and is wanting to get some kind of center console that will fit it with storage. Do they make one that will fit this model that allows for the E-Brake handle etc...

If so, which ones are the best fit and most functional of them. I have seen some small storage capacity ones that I think would fit but not sure.

Thanks,

Check Quadratec.com. There are a few center consoles for the TJ.

Is that e-brake handle cut I side the box or is there room for it beside the box? That was one option I was thinking of, is that 30 mm or 20?

There's a slot cut in the front of the can, and a hole cut in the bottom. I don't know what MM it is but it's 14.25" tall x 18.25" long x 8.25" wide. That's not my jeep in the photo, but I bought the same type of ammo can, and I'm in the process of making my own. I found mine at a local Army/Navy store for $25 (very good shape-no damage/rust). My center console consists of the auto/4 HI-4LO shifter colum and a single cup holder, no arm rest or storage. The can fits perfectly in that spot behind the cup holder, and doesn't protrude into the back seat area. And for me seems to be about the perfect hight for an arm rest. You can just leave it as is, or trim the back and install a hinge, then install a locking mechanism. There's different ways of locking it, here's a pic of a smaller box, used for housing speakers- showing another way to lock it.

not sure of intent of center console...SOME have a "sub" from the factory and I think some from aftermarket do as well.....may want to check and see ...
1.) if that is something she wants (probably)
2.) needs ( not really)
3.) her head unit/ Jeep is wired for (probably)

Might TRY a few salvage yards but be forewarned Jeeps are usually pretty "stripped"
in the junkyards..but it doesn't hurt to check might get lucky

Good Luck!!

Yes we have discussed the uses and needs of a console, mainly for secure quick storage and arm rest when driving. Wants to be able to lock it while at college if she has doors off. Not bullet proof it, just keep the honest honest. I have AMMO cans the ones I have are the wrong size. My question were just to see what others were doing about the E brake handle being in the way and what might be on the market. I have searched quadratic and google etc and never been really pleased with aftermarket options that I have found.

Thanks for all the input.

I got lucky and found a console at the salvage yard.
$75
I've also seen them on ebay.
$120 +

Ditto on salvage yard finds. I was able to rekey the lock on the one I bought for 2 bucks. Keeps the honest ones honest, but if they really want in it they could.

If you want a secure lockable senter console, Tuffy is about the best choice. Now I assume you have just the front shifter and single cup holder. I am not sure if Tuffy has a console that integrates with that front. Not sure if you you would get the full console.
