Hey there Jeepers. Have an 05 TJ and went to remove the doors. The driver side has a plug to disconnect that prevents the overhead light from staying on but the passenger side does not. Am I missing something here. Help!
Thanks. I'm all for quick fixes to get me out of a bind, but that's not really the solution I'm looking for. For all that I could just wire in a toggle switch and eliminate the button all together. I was just curious to see if I was overlooking something.
Ah, I was under the assumption that your light won't go off when you remove the doors. Those clamps will stop the light from staying on when the doors are off.
Also, the plug may not be factory. Is it like an electrical wire or something. Factory TJ doors should just lift right off after removing the straps and nuts(if they are still on there).
My '06 has a "door switch defeat" fuse in the fuse panel behind the glove box that prevents the dome lights from staying on with the doors off. It's fuse 4, at the bottom right. The dime lights still work from the dash light switch.
I actually made a jumper and switch, so I could disable the circuit with the switch off or turn it back on... about $3 in parts (switch plus some wire and inline fuse)
