Cool 05 rubicon starter probs

Hi I have a 2005 rubicon the starter died was covered under warrenty but i was wondering if any of you know about siliconing your starter in cold weather if you are in water alot. I have a friend at work that told me you have to i'm new to this 4wd stuff anyone else silicone there starter to keep it water tight? It started fine till the temp went to 11f overnight i was in water the day before??

Ive never heard of it, but that dosnt say anything. Sounds like a good idea, but youll never keep all the water out.

that looks tough to do.. keep al the water out of it... The only thing i can think of when siliconing it is it will keep water in... I say that because when you are in water pressure will press it in and then it wont have much pressure to get out of the starter. and the silicone will keep it in. Perhaps maybe you can drill a hole in the bottom of it or something? Keep us updated with whatever you find.

Just a bad starter i thnk

i just had a new starter put in.Iwent thru alot of water that night it got down to -2f that night it sat all night and started rght up the the morning Plus when the warrenty runs out and i got to pay for it myself out i'll get 1 at pep boys or autozone thet got a lifetime warrenty on there starters if it dies then.

^ yeah but they will only replace it once... unless you say you want to return it as damaged, and then use the money twords another one.
