'05 Wrangler X Front Differential Problem-I'm a NOOB

Hello,

Long time reader, first time poster. I don't know much in terms of the mechanical side of Jeeps, but I love mine to death. Just made the trip from Florida to California in it and had no problems except for I keep smelling burning gear oil when I am riding (although strangely not when parked). I had this problem before and it was my rear diff. Right before I left I had the nut, yoke, pinions and bearings replaced on my rear diff, so I checked it out and it is not leaking. I checked the front diff and there is fluid coating the bottom of the ball (?) right under the driver side seat. I don't know if this is correct, but it looks like it is two pieces and someone used silicone to seal the diff, and now the silicone has worn out. Also, I have been looking for the plug so that I could top off the fluid and have been unable to locate it. Any and all help would be MUCH appreciated, because I really don't have the money to bring it in to a shop right now.
