1998 2.5L eliminate fan w/ electric?

Hello, new here -but been turning wrenches a very long time. My question is the engine mounted fan is OK, but turns all the time obviously. Going 40+MPH down the road-may not need any fan for additional flow thru radiator. Anyone installed an electric fan w/ thermo switch?. That big long OEM shrould looks somewhat inneficient. I don't like fan clutches much either, IMO. Not a real mud addict, just an old guy having fun and wrenchin along the way. Just got a used TJ. gotta do something to it besides change fluids and such. Thanks for any replies.
