Just wondering when the fold-forward rear seat became available in the TJ? I haven't found mention of it anywhere, and I forgot to note the years of rigs that I saw it in. Definitely by 2006, but I assume probably earlier. Also, for total removal, is the folding seat any more or less difficult than the hard bolt-in seat?
From my understanding, the rear seat is removable in all TJ's... Are you referring to the fold and tumble seat where all you need to do is squeeze a bar and it pops right out? Here's a thread discussing rear seat removal in a TJ, with both versions (one with pins, one with the squeeze bar).
Thanks guys - guess I was under the wrong impression. I thought my buddies early TJ (98?) had a fixed frame that simply bolted to the floor with no folding feature.
My '94 YJ had a fold tumble rear set and it came out in less than a minute same as the TJ...now the JK yeah it is "easier" but heavier....or maybe I am just that much older??
Early TJ rear seats don't lock in place, you have to strap them up (unless you like mashed groceries).
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
