2"Coil spacre lift = Loose steering?

My 2002 came with a 2" coil spacer lift,and rough country shocks. My steering is loose and wanders around a bit, I tightend the steering box, turned it a 1/4 turn, it helped a little but it still dont feel right.only has a little over 50,000 miles on it.
Could the 2" Spacers have thrown off the caster angle enough to cause this? If I take the Spacers out will this fix this? This is my 5th Wrangler, All have been stock with no lift but this one.Its daily driver and dont go off road at all. But my wife wont drive it till this is fixed.

Sounds like a good reason to leave it alone

But seriously...no, the coil spacers shouldn't have caused the caster angle to change enough to cause that. I'd say you've got another problem somewhere...I don't know enough bout Jeeps to even give an educated guess, but have been doing a lot of reading on the 2" coil spacers as that's what I'm considering getting in the near future.

Few things to check:

1. tie rod ends tight
2. Track bar tight
3. Drag link tight
4. Ball joints (jack tire off ground place hands at 12&6 and try to move tire back and forth)

Has it been aligned?

I didnt think the 2" coil spacer would change the caster angle enough either. It does need an alignment, the wheel is off center to the right at 1 o'clock, Is bad Alignment the most common cause of this?
Should start with an alignment first then move on to other possible culprits?

two inch will be enough to screw up the toe in which will effect it the way you describe . Caster is still probably fine .

So would it be easier to just take the coil spacers out or should I adjust the toe?

i never had any steering issues with my 2", but i did have some horrible tire wear and an alignment solved that issue. i would put down the $30(???) or so and get an alighment before you do any drastic changes, and go from there

I would look into the toe . thats only a two minute job . I change so many things on the front end of my Jeep toe adjustment is almost a daily ritual lately

thanks,for the input. Im having it aligned this weekend, then I'll check the Toe. If that dont fix it I'll probably pull the spacers off and go from there. Its our daily driver and my wife is having panic attacks when she drives it shes terrified...LOL.

I used to have a 2" spacer lift with no problems like that. I wouldn't take off the spacer unless you don't like the look.
