Greetings all on my first post. I am a new old newbie to this site. I just purchased a 2000 Sahara with 69,000 miles. Good shape, never really off-roaded and mostly a highway queen. This is my third jeep but has been 8 years since my last TJ.
I have read most all of the posts regarding the pinion gears and etc that could be causing a growling from the rear area so I don't mean to appear as having not read them. Most informational. My real question is if the growling (nearly same as tires but louder) I am hearing in the rear-end is the pinion gear assembly, does it seem unusual that this would happen at this mile marker on the odo? I went today and and had all fluids changed but to no avail. The growling seems mostly on acceleration or cruising speed, if I clutch and coast it seems to dissapate. U-joints are all tight and there is no movement if I shake the rear wheels in and out. It seems to have come on all of a sudden as well.
Any comments are greatly appreciated.
